Cognidox Limited, a leading provider of intelligent document product management technology, launches a new version of software for its flagship document management platform.
The new version includes advanced features specifically for product managers. One of the key responsibilities of the product manager is to communicate and coordinate the process of release of the product. The faster and more agile delivery, more an organization need control over the configuration of the parts that make up a version of the product.
Document holders are a feature of the CogniDox widely used by existing customers for the product launch. The owner of a document (DH) is a part number controlled based on a standard design of XML containing the lists of other documents. Common applications include the capture of release of product configuration data, such as versions of hardware or software, user guides or training materials.
A new online editor of DH provides a set of configurable (a company) of XML templates, allowing non-technical staff to easily create new documents or edit existing files. Users can search or look for similar examples, or you can clone one variant of another. Once they have the basic structure that they can add references of documents to set up the configuration of parts. Other DHs sections can be copied to a new DH using intuitive drag-and-drop functionality.
Document can be published on a web portal for customers as a container to store other documents, which greatly simplifies the process of product/software release by reducing expenditure on publication of a single document, with everything referenced information automatically.
The new DH editor online is in direct response to feedback from existing users. Comments included; "However useful the concept of DH, the ideal solution should not need to download and manual editing of an XML file before loading it again". Asked an online editor which allows the user to open/check-out file DH, edit it and check it again, all within the framework of CogniDox at several companies.
In addition to his online editor of DH, CogniDox also now has support for a new type of DH called a compound document. A compound document dynamically amalgamated a set of PDFs into a single PDF combo, but appears only if the user has permissions to view specific content. The composite PDF shows a dedicated Viewer application, which supports the actions of the user such as navigation pages, full screen, search and more.
An example of its use is a user manual which is built according to a combination of end-user factors such as the company work for and its role of work or level of experience within that company.
These are just two of the 44 new feature additions. Speaking about the launch, CEO Paul Walsh said: "it is important for us that 40% of the new features, including the owner, directly as a result of the suggestions of the client. CogniDox is now an integral part of your business process improvement and we are sensitive to your requests".
The latest version of the software is available for download from the support of Cognidox site and is free for all customers with a current subscription.
